Subliminal Movie Decor
During the holiday break I watched one of my favorite Christmas films, Scrooged (1988), for the umpteenth time and I noticed something I hadn't before. A Keith Haring Free South Africa poster on the apartment wall of the oft harried secretary, Alfre Woodard. I immediately recognized the imagery and researched how I could get my own copy and learned that the New York activist/artist created the posters to distribute at anti-apartheid demonstrations which were gaining traction in the United States in the 1980s. The originals can only be found at auction and in galleries, custom printed posters can be had at the official store. ($65-230)
